Project Timeline
April 2020 - Aug 2020
Supported In
Metron is an engineering consultancy that offers innovative engineering solutions. They have manufactured equipment for high performance sports such as cycling, sailing and motorsports as well as the aerospace industry. Metron uses Additive Manufacturing technology to create complex elements that would be impossible to produce in traditional manufacturing processes.
Our objectives
Brand awareness
The primary purpose of the new website was to create brand awareness, as Metron’s core client base comes from networking and their existing circles.
Showcasing their unique selling points
To promote who they are, what they do, what makes them different and why their engineering solutions are superior.
Enter into new markets
Metron had already excelled in certain areas of their market, and also wanted to have the means to enter into new spaces effectively.
Functionality
There were many opportunities for optimisation with Metron’s previous website, we needed to create a functional website that prioritised user experience.
Communication
The innovative elements of Metron’s brand could have been communicated better through their old website, which meant lots of missed opportunities.
Structure
As well as a structure optimised for SEO and UX, Metron wanted a way to clearly differentiate between press articles written about them and their own blog posts.
What we did
- Meticulously planned how information would be structured and formatted to create effective communication.
- Put together a website prototype – this ensures the design and interactivity of the website is to a high enough standard.
- Created infographics to explain various processes – this was important as it helped to break down very technical information and make it easier for the user to understand.
- Strategised the website content and collaborated with the client on copy – their technical knowledge was vital, and our knowledge of copywriting helped bring the project together.
- Solved the problem of structuring their press articles and blog posts.
- Refreshed the website colour palette to be more modern and professional.
- Gave guidance on the photography of previous projects and edited photos.
- Built the website – our developers worked hard to bring the website prototype to life, prioritising user experience throughout.
Challenges faced
Understanding the technical subject matter in order to effectively communicate this on the website was challenging. However, through our own thorough research and collaborating with the client, we were able to overcome this and create a website that was informative, accurate and easy to understand.
